United we stand, Divided we fall.
I really admire my 70-year-old English tutor. 70? Yes, S-E-V-E-N-T-Y. Hard to believe? But its true. She a very active teacher. Although she is 70, her brain still functions really really well. Actually, she's not a tuition teacher. It is because parents wants their children to be like her, so they will send her children to them. In fact, her classes aren't like other tuition classes. We do more Oral work then written work. In fact, we do not have any written work. All our work are sent through via-email. High-tech. :) Don't look down on this 70-year-old woman. She can type really fast; and she knows how to use the computer.
Today, she shared to us about her success. She worked really hard. She came from a ordinary family just like any other ordinary child, but she is extra-ordinary. She completed her A-Level in FOUR months, while others take 2 years. That's a HUGE difference. Plus, she lost her mother when she was 5. And when she was doing her A-Level, she had to take care of her two boys. (She was married at that time ;] )
Anyways, she told us her secret to success. And that is READING. Many students came to her to write their personal statement to get into one of the world's best university. Many of them got all As in their SPM. But they cannot speak properly ( Grammar errors everywhere ). My tutor said that '' What's the use of having a great personal statement, when you might eventually fail the interview?'' She also said that if we're doing homework for the sake of our parents, forget it! It's no use. We've gotta study for the sake of ourselves, not others. It's for our FUTURE.
She is a great tutor, motivator and a role model.
